Alumni Profile
Anything but boring pretty much sums up the past decade since Heidi Tsang ('99), CDNIS alumna from the inaugural graduating class, embarked on her post-high school journey. After completing her degree in Masters of Management and Professional Accounting from The Rotman School of Business of The University of Toronto, Heidi joined Deloitte & Touche in Toronto, one of the global Big Four accounting firms, as an auditor and has since then became a Chartered Accountant. Realizing auditing wasn't really her cup of tea, Heidi changed roles, becoming the manager of the Corporate Finance and Investor Relations department of a global blue-chip company headquartered in Hong Kong after she moved back to be with family. She comments, "I like to be kept on my toes. I constantly crave for challenges and thoroughly enjoy working on new projects." That trait led her to move on to join a start-up local tech company as a Corporate Development Manager. "Leaving a global, well-established company to join a start-up local tech company employing no more than 700 people was not a move most people would take. But I'm glad I did it. I'm truly excited that at my current job, I get to make things happen", adds Heidi. And making things happen doesn't stop at her job. With her passion for food, she took culinary classes while she was in Toronto in the hopes of fulfilling her dream of one day having her own restaurant. In August 2010, she opened Sloop! Froyo and Bagel in Sheung Wan. "Having to juggle between a full-time job requiring frequent travel to China and Sloop! certainly keeps my hands full. I have to be really good with time management and certainly couldn't have done it without support from my family and friends. I'm truly blessed and grateful for all the opportunities I have been given and I hope I can get the most out of everything that I do." |
